Chris Romey, “Romey,” 23, of Gering, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Lake Minatare.
His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Mitchell Berean Church at Mitchell with Pastor Barry Holbrook officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Cemetery in Gering.
Friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at Dugan-Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff. A memorial has been established to Gering Wresting Club. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com
Chris was born February 16, 1991, at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff to Aaron Rutan and Katrina Romey. He received his early education at Morrill Elementary and graduated from the Pine RidgeJob Corps in Chadron where he received his high school diploma and technical trade in carpentry. He was currently employed with Nebraskaland Tire where he enjoyed his job tremendously.
He was a member of a pool league in Scottsbluff and Mitchell Berean Church Youth Group.
Survivors include his mother, Katrina (David) Nagel, father, Aaron (Starla) Rutan; brother, Tyler Nagel; sisters, Brandi Narvias, Amanda Brunkhorst, and Leandra Grevara; grandparents, Donald and Joanna Romey, Linda Nagel, Joe (Connie) Rutan, and Velina Rutan; great-grandparents, Dwight (Elizabeth) Vance; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by “Buster” Dylan Donald Buster Peters, cousin by blood, brother by heart; grandfather, Charlie Nagel; great-grandparents, Wayne and Vivian Lattin; Ray and Esther Nagel.
