Funeral services for Dorothy R. Sandoz of Chadron, Nebraska will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron Stanley Morrison with officiating. A visitation will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014 at 5:00 to 7:30 PM at Chamberlain Chapel. The service will be followed by lunch at Country Kitchen in Chadron; all are welcome. Interment will be held directly after lunch at approximately 1:30 PM at the Fairview Cemetery in Rushville.
Dorothy Sandoz, 85, died on Monday, February 10, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Parker, CO.
Dorothy was born on May 4, 1928 in Industry, IL to Arthur and Della Smith. She married Ron Sandoz on January 15, 1953, and the two made a home at the Sandoz Ranch north of Chadron. Over the next several years Dorothy and Ron welcomed two daughters and two sons, Rhonda, Joy, Rod, and Ron. Dorothy highly valued her role as wife and mother, but above all she cherished her relationship with God. Dorothy was peacefully received into the loving embrace of the Lord on February 10, 2014. She is reunited with Ron, her parents, and two sisters, Lola and Evelyn. Dorothy is survived, missed, and dearly loved by two sisters, Lois Bixby and June Chaplin; her four children, Rhonda Mailander, Joy Lange, Rod Sandoz, and Ron Sandoz; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established in Dorothy’s honor to Chadron Hospice. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
