Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday May 16, 2019 at 10:00am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 340 Cedar Street, Chadron, Nebraska, followed by burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Chadron. Father Todd Philipsen officiating.  A reception at St. Patrick’s Assumption Arena will follow internment.

A vigil will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron, Nebraska.

Robert Lloyd Tiensvold died at home on May 10, 2019 after a three year, courageous and Christ-centered battle with colon cancer.   Bob was born on August 15, 1972 in Rushville, Nebraska to his loving parents, David and Ruby (Higgs) Tiensvold.

Bob graduated from Rushville (NE) High School and Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska.  He became a licensed electrician and worked for Burlington Northern Railroad.  Most recently, Bob was the manager at Crow Butte Uranium Mine in Crawford, Nebraska. He worked throughout his cancer treatments without complaint and right up to the last few days of life.

Bob married the love of his life, Lisa Jo (Dierks) Tiensvold on September 26, 1998.  From this loving union were born three children: Robert Logan, Luke David and Lanie Marie.  He cherished his wife and children and loved sharing every aspect of their lives.  He was a dependable, selfless, loyal husband, son, brother and father.  Being there to meet the needs of and enjoy his family was of utmost importance to Bob.  Children and babies gravitated to Bob and always brought smiles, happiness and fun for him.  He appreciated and enjoyed life and trusted in our Lord’s plan, even during times of struggle.

Bob was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and was the long-time president of the Chadron Baseball Board.  He loved hunting, camping, fishing and golfing.  Supporting all Chadron High and Chadron State College activities and sporting events was a joy for Bob.  He particularly enjoyed football and baseball; he coached his boys in baseball up to their American Legion teams. During his time in Rushville, he became a young member of the Rushville Volunteer Fire Department.  He continued this service as a member of the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department, responding with care and concern to those who needed assistance.   Bob considered it an honor and privilege to assist others in whatever way possible.  Being Christ’s humble servant to anyone in need was a life goal that he lived out each day.  He desired no recognition for his efforts and would likely be a bit upset with what is written here.

Bob is preceded in death and was welcomed into the Heavenly kingdom by his grandparents, Lloyd H. (Buddy) and Ila Tiensvold and Bob and Rose Higgs; Lisa’s parents, Carl and Sandra Dierks, and his nephew, Spencer Dierks.

Bob is survived by his wife, Lisa; sons, Logan and Luke; daughter, Lanie; brother, Mick (Mary) Tiensvold; sisters, Melissa (Lynn) Webster and Tonya (Morgan) Olson; and parents, Dave and Ruby Tiensvold.  Bob is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  All will miss his loving presence.

While he loved his long rides on his motorcycle, his true love was his wife and family. He was always very proud of the family. He was always very proud of the family he was a part of and helped to create. He was the proudest though of his grandchildren with whom he cherished every minute he was able to spend with them whether it was going on a trip, taking them on a motorcycle rides, and even helping them build numerous projects. James Arthur McGinley was born December 29, 1934 in Alliance, Nebraska to John Bernard McGinley and Gertrude Elizabeth (Meade) McGinley.  Jim was the seventh of eight children raised on the McGinley Ranch north of Lisco.  He attended St. Agnes Catholic School as a child and graduated Alliance High School.  He then attended CSU for a year.

His summers and school breaks were spent working on the family ranch north of Lisco.  As a young man, they put up hay with teams of horses, raised and tended to cattle and had a great deal of fun playing baseball, bowling and rodeo.

Jim enjoyed going to dances and it was at a Saddle Club Event when a young lady caught his eye.  He would frequent the Drug Store to purchase Days Work tobacco and woo Sandy Huwaldt.   He married the love of his life on September 5, 1956 in Alliance Nebraska.

They made their home on the McGinley Ranch and had five children, Timothy, Jennifer, Jill, Mathew and Melissa.  Jim was an active member of the St. Gall Catholic Church, he served as President of the 53J School District, was a member of the Lisco Volunteer Fire Department and the Oshkosh Hospital Board.

After the death of his father John in 1976, Jim and his brother Mike continued to work the ranch.  The ranch was sold in 2000 and Jim and Sandy moved to their current home south of Oshkosh.  Jim bought a truck and hauled cattle and feed until he retired at age 80.  After moving to Oshkosh, Jim enjoyed scooping walks for the elderly, driving for the ambulance, helping friends and neighbors brand and harvest or do whatever needed to be done.  Everyone knew when you needed help and called Jim, he would be there
