Eric Bradley Burney, 32, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
He was born December 12, 1983 in Alliance, Nebraska to Martin Burney and Shari (Galyen) Burney-Leisy. He attended country school west of Alliance through 8th grade where he then attended Alliance High School and graduated in 2002.
He had many passions in life, cows and pigs, farming, truck driving and above all his family. He worked for Jelinek Farms for the last 9 years. He made friends wherever he went and touched the lives of many in the community. Whether it was a flat tire, hauling hay or cattle, giving extra veggies from the garden, or telling a dirty joke he was sure to be there and help in any way he could.
Eric married the love of his life and high school sweetheart Maria Towne of Hemingford on March 20, 2007 in Alliance. They were blessed with three children, Teagan Breann, Tristen Martin Lee and Taylea Mae. He was a wonderful and caring father, husband, son, and brother who will be missed greatly.
He is survived by his wife Maria; son Tristen; daughters Teagan and Taylea; mother Shari (Louie) Leisy; brother Steven (Idonna); grandparents Joyce Galyen, Pat (Larry) Nicodemus, Mackey (Joan) Galyen, Don Burney; mother-in-law Marge (Carwin) Olson; father-in-law Mike Towne and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Burney, his aunt, Lori Hansen, cousin, Michael Conroy and his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 14 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s United Lutheran Church in Alliance with Pastor Tim Stadem officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 13 from 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Great Western Bank in care of his children.
