Charles William “Chuck” McLean, 86, died February 23, 2015 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center with his family by his side.
Chuck was born in Alliance, NE to Charles and Elizabeth (Mabin) McLean on May 30, 1929.
In 1946, Chuck graduated from Curtis Agricultural School, Curtis, NE and would go on to farm all his life on the McLean farmland north of Alliance, originally homesteaded by his grandfather, James McLean in 1886. After retiring from farming he worked at Bernie’s Hardware.
Chuck married Mavis Collons on December 23, 1956 in Chadron, NE. Chuck belonged to various clubs throughout his life including the Friends of the Library, Eagles, Knight Museum Partner, Sallows Museum, Carnegie Arts Center, Alliance Arts Council, Country Music Association and the YMCA.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Mavis, his children, Marci (Jim) Moran and Darci (Anthony) DeLaTorre, grandchildren, Nicholas (Jessica) Moran, Rebecca (Allen) Schrader, Seth DeLaTorre; great-grandchildren, Addison Schrader, Emeri Schrader, Cora Moran and Eloise Moran; his sisters, Lucille Gilbert of Scottsbluff and Naomi (Derald) Pechin of Colorado and many nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Jim and Kenneth.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be given to the YMCA or the Friends of the Library.
