Thomas E. Dickensheets, 79, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance.
He was born October 19, 1935 in Wichita, Kansas to Robert and Irene Dickensheets. He graduated from high school in Wellington, KS and attended Wichita State University. He was a member of the Air Force Reserve and had obtained his pilot’s license. Tom worked as an insurance salesman and for Boeing before moving to Alliance in 1978 to work for Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired as a conductor in 1999.
Tom was a member of the Alliance Rifle Club and was a Bench Rest Shooter. He also was an avid golfer at Skyview Golf Course and a member of the Panhandle Men’s Golf Association.
He is survived by his brother, Robert (Elaine) Dickensheets of Jackson, TN, his nephews, Karl Dickensheets and Hans Dickensheets and his niece, Kristen Barber.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 20 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel in Alliance. Father John Kakkuzhiyil will officiate and burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
