Wayne W. Lawrence passed away on Tuesday December 16th at his home in LaVista NE, surrounded by family.
He was born April 16, 1928 to Arthur D. and Helen (Becker) Lawrence in Alliance NE. He graduated from Alliance High School in 1945. He served in the National Guard and Reserves from 1947-1954, honorably discharged with the rank of Sargeant 1st Class. He married Nola Jean Hallsted on March 11th 1951 at the Open Door Church, in rural Chadron. They were blessed with three children Carol, Nancy, and David.
He worked for the US Postal Service in Alliance NE until retiring as Assistant Postmaster in 1983. He was then often seen around town mowing lawns, trimming bushes, and cleaning up vacant properties. A gentleman with a big heart, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. Health issues necessitated a move to Omaha in May 2011.
He is survived by his wife Nola, daughters Carol (Mark) Seitzer and Nancy ( Jack) Sarver of Omaha, NE, and son Dave( Pam) Lawrence of Alliance. Grandchildren Joellen ( Jim) Foster, Chad (Trisha) Sarver, Alyssa (Chris) Ward, Dustin (Regina Teague) Lawrence, Josh (Amity) Lawrence. Courtney (Justin) Schefcik. Rob (Melanie) Seitzer, Andrew Seitzer. As well as great grandchildren: Avah Sarver, Cassie, Penny, Helen, CJ, and Jack Foster, Mykenah and Gracen Lawrence, and Ethan and Zach Teague.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Phyllis Reitz.
Services will held Monday December 22nd at 7pm at Community Bible Church in Omaha NE. and Saturday January 10th at 2pm at the Alliance Berean Church. Memorials should be designated to Alliance Berean Church, The Salvation Army of Alliance NE (Box Butte County) , or Indian Mission Church of God.
