VIVIAN LINDEN, 89

Vivian Elaine Linden, 89, died Thursday, October 14, 2014 at Highland Park Care Center in Alliance.

She was born September 10, 1925 in Chadron, Nebraska to George and Jessie (Hershey) Staboulos.  Vivian graduated from Chadron High School.

On August 13, 1946 she was united in marriage to Leroy R. Linden in Hot Springs, South Dakota. The couple made their home in Chadron.  While in Chadron the couple raised three daughters. In addition to raising three daughters, Vivian also worked for the City of Chadron in the water department and then as the City Clerk.  Vivian was also an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Assumption Academy. In 1967 Leroy and Vivian moved to Imperial, Nebraska where she worked as the manager of an irrigation company.

In 1999 Vivian lost her daughter, Mary Lee McKinney and returned home to Chadron at the age of 74 to raise her three granddaughters, Kelli, Kaci and Kim.  Once again she was attending ballgames and experiencing the world of teenage girls.

In 2012 Vivian moved to Highland Park Care Center in Alliance.  Vivian met many new friends and during her time there showed us how to live life your way and still make others laugh.

She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Gary) Finger of Clinton, Missouri and Michele (Steve) Prochazka of Alliance.  She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, her daughter, Mary Lee McKinney and her sister, Helen Laue.

Memorial services will be held Friday, October 17, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Alliance.  Father John Kakkuzhiyil and Father Tim Stoner will officiate.  Graveside services will follow at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery at Rushville, Nebraska. Wake services will be Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
