Kenneth A. Carmody
News has been received here of the death of Kenneth A. Carmody on June 25, 2014 in Aurora, Colorado. Kenneth was born on August 30, 1924 to James and Ida (Wright) Carmody and was preceded in death by them, his wife Lee, and his siblings which include Mable E. Carmody Graham (1920-2004); Lauretta Nadine Carmody (1923) who died in infancy; and a step sister, Louise Ann Carmody. Ken married LeeAn Gogert in 1944 and is survived by two children, BillyLee Berube and Bruce Carmody, both of California and many nieces & nephews & cousins including Nancy Fowler Stricker and Sherri Jinks Fry of Alliance.
Ken joined the Navy in 1939 and graduated from Naval Training School in Alameda, CA as an Aviation Metalsmith in July 1942 and served in the Pacific on the Hawaiian Islands, New Zealand, New Hebrides and New Caledonia. Ken then joined the Army Air Corp so he could fly fire control on B-29’s. He served in both WWII and Korea. When he retired he was a Master Sergeant Super Grade. (Chief Master Sergeant). After the service he bought a tractor/trailer and started working for North American Van Lines until his final retirement.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, July 7 at 2 pm the Hemingford Cemetery.
