She was born on March 4, 1928, to John and Elizabeth (Schaneman) Stroh at the family home in rural Scottsbluff. She was the first of the Stroh’s seven children. After attending school in Haig, Betty graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1946 and married Harold Heilbrun on February 23, 1947. They had a Dutch hop wedding that lasted two days. Harold and Betty had five children.
Betty was a member of the Sunbeam Project Extension Club for over 50 years, meeting once a month for all those years and only recently stopped. She was her husband’s partner and support in Heilbrun Manufacturing but most of all she was a homemaker who stayed busy caring for her children. She was a 4-H club leader and taught her daughters sewing. Betty loved to cook and put her own interpretation on a recipe. Shopping for clothes and jewelry was her “hobby”. In later years she was a member of the Red Hat Society and a coffee group who met at the Holland Bakery on Saturdays. She was a member of Salem Congregational Church.
Betty is survived by her children, Lorene Heilbrun, Nancy (Michael) Gallawa, Ronald (Julie) Heilbrun, Janice (Rick) Brown, and Ted (Kare) Heilbrun; siblings, Violet Rein, Leroy (Norma) Stroh, Jackie (Russ) Merrigan, Jeri (Gary) Hahn, Shirley Stroh Robertson, and John (Vicki) Stroh; grandchildren, Michelle (Charles) Hilliard, Andrea Gallawa, Zach Gallawa, Jason Heilbrun, Jeff Heilbrun, Joshua Heilbrun, Nathan Heilbrun, Kellen Hayes, Hugh Heilbrun, and Dean Heilbrun; great-grandchildren, Madeline, Chase and Olivia Hilliard, Maxwell Gallawa, Alex, Max, Charlie and Quinn Heilbrun, Tristen and Trinity Heilbrun, and Elizabeth Heilbrun.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Harold; parents; granddaughter, Robyn; and brother-in-law, Harold Rein.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Armando Magana and Heritage Estates for their help in the care of Betty these last two years.
