Scottsbluff, NE – Harold F. Propp Sr. 90, of Scottsbluff, passed away peacefully Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at Zion Evangelical Church in Scottsbluff with Pastor Garry Schick officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Foundation.
Harold was born in Iliff, Colorado, October 24, 1923, the son of Fred & Lydia Propp. He grew up working on his parent’s farm and going to school. After graduating, Harold took a job with Higgins Motors in the township of Sterling Colorado where he met Patricia Walters and was married on Feb. 5, 1945. They lived in Sterling for a short time before Harold accepted a job with Meyers Ford auto dealership in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, where the family then resided. To this union Sandy, Lynette, Fred and Cindy were born.
Harold was a devoted and loving father to his wife, Patty and his four children. He worked as a Parts Manager for over 30 years with several Ford dealerships in Scottsbluff and Mitchell, NE. He and Patty resided on a small farm where they also operated a thriving hog business, and were always known in the community for growing some of the best sweet corn.
Harold will be greatly missed by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who loved him so.
Survivors include his children; Sandra Betancourt and husband Dan of Monroe Township, NJ, Lynette Propp Hildreth of Aurora, CO, Fred Propp and wife Maureen of Colleyville, TX, Cindy Mitchell and husband Phil of Scottsbluff; grandchildren Gary Weidaman and wife Lori, Scott Betancourt, Amber Betancourt, Tera Gill and husband Eric, Tresa Hildreth, Joshua Propp and wife Gina, Meghan Vera and husband Matthew, Sarah Middleton and husband Clay, and Austin Propp; great grandchildren JJ and Chelsie Weidaman, Tate and Dixon Gill, Jackson, Owen and Finley Propp, and Gabriella Vera; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Harold’s wife, Patricia of over 64 years in marriage, parents and siblings preceded him in death.
