Irene V. Dietrick, 94, died Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Box Butte General Hospital.
She was born on September 27, 1919 at Fremont, NE to Forest and Ava (Elliott) Hughes. Her family moved to Crawford, NE where she grew up.
In 1940 she married Ernest W. Dietrick in Chadron, NE. Her husband was a WWII veteran. After WWII they moved to Igloo, SD where she and her husband was employed at Black Hills Ordinance Depot until its closing. In 1954 they moved to Ontario, OR. In 1958 they returned to Igloo and later to Custer, SD. She worked at Custer State Hospital until retiring in 1984. She then moved to Jacksonville, FL with her son and daughter-in-law until moving to Alliance in 1986.
She is survived by her son, Neil (Margie) Dietrick of Gering, her daughter, Sherrine (Boyd) Stark of Alliance, her sister, Ila Hamaker of Crawford, her brother, Roger Hughes of Crawford, her 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 3 sisters, 1 brother, her youngest son, Scott Dietrick of Norfolk, NE and her granddaughter, Carrie Graves.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Alliance with Rev. Steve Hahn and Rev. Dennis Gruber officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.
Memorials may be given to Calvary Assembly of God Church.
