Maxine Applegarth, 95, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Alliance.
Irma Maxine was born April 10, 1918 at Pattonsburg, Missouri to James L. and Oakley (James) Taylor.
On June 26, 1935 she was united in marriage to Andrew Joseph Applegarth in Hyannis. They were married 51 years.
Maxine was a member of the Calvary Episcopal Church, Altar Guild, Eagles Auxiliary and Friendship Club.
Those who have been blessed to share her life are her children, Dean (Margaret) Applegarth of Chadron; Nancy (Dan) Orr of Ash Flat, AR; Linda (Larry) Cleveland of Hyannis and Kay Golliher of Crossville, TN. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and her sister, Nadine Williams of Kansas City, Missouri.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joe; daughter Lori; a grandson, a great-grandson, a great-great-grandson, three brothers, two sisters, three Applegarth brothers-in-law and their wives and a sister-in-law and her husband.
Maxine was adored by not only her family but by her extended family at Good Samaritan Center. She was a special lady who modeled gratitude, kindness, strength and dignity.
Graveside memorial services will be Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hyannis Cemetery with Father Coke McClure officiating. A luncheon will follow at the Calvary Episcopal Church.
Memorials may be given to Hyannis Cemetery Fund, Hyannis Fire and Rescue or to a church or charity of the donor’s choice.
