ROBERT ROEBUCK, 83

Robert Roebuck, 83, passed away December 12, 2013 at the Chadron Community Hospital.

Robert Allen “Bob” Roebuck was born May 27, 1930 in Alliance to Jake and Esther Roebuck. He had 7 brothers and 8 sisters.  At the age of 14 he started his adventures in rodeo and ranching, which he loved.  Horses were his passion.  He had horses until he was 78, which at one point he had 10 horses and 3 buggies.

At the age of 21 he married Shirley Dennis.  They bought their first home in 1963 in Alliance where they raised their 6 awesome children. Bob worked as the head custodian for the Alliance Public Schools for 16 years and then operated his own handyman service.  In 1995 they moved to South Dakota and lived in a log cabin they built on 80 acres.  In 1999 Bob and Shirley parted company.  Bob would live the remainder of his life in Bridgeport, Bayard and finally Hemingford.

He is survived by his children, Dusty Roebuck of Green Castle, MO, Gloria Sherlock of Hemingford, Vickie (Rick) Fitzgerald and Sherrie (Steve) Kuhnel of Gillette, WY and Tamie Adler of Hastings, NE.  He is also survived by his brothers, Virgil Roebuck of Bridgeport, Tom Roebuck of Minatare, his sisters, Rosezella Langmacher of Alliance, Nila Snell of Fort Collins, CO and Joann Adamy of Anchorage, AK, and his 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Vivian Sundberg, 5 brothers, 5 sisters and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel in Alliance with Pastor Teri Lucas officiating. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will be in the Bayard Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may be sent in care of Vickie Fitzgerald, 4501 Wilson Way, Gillette, WY  82718 for a future memorial designation.
