Sympathy FlowersHelen L. Mundt, 92, died Friday, July 12, 2013 at Box Butte General Hospital.

She was born July 11, 1921 to Dale B. and Zora M. (Gauvain) Osborne in a sod house southeast of Bayard, Nebraska.  The sod house was built by her paternal grandparents in the late 1880’s.

Helen was educated in various schools in Morrill County and graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1939.

She worked in an office, cooked on a wheat and cattle ranch in Oregon, worked in a tool factory in Chicago, the Alliance Creamery and Dayco in Alliance for ten years.

She married Harold Thompson in 1942 and later married Elmer Mundt on November 26, 1947 at Chadron.  She helped Elmer in the farming operation, enjoyed playing cards, reading, gardening, crossword puzzles and genealogy.

Helen is survived by her children, John (Glenda) Thompson of Riverton, Wyoming, Diana Loomis of Angora, Mary (Royce) Bailey of Gordon, and Viv Miller and her special friend Lisa Belsher of Colorado Springs, CO; 19 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Yvonne Loomis, brothers Harold and Roy Osborne, son-in-laws Gordon Pettit and Raymond Loomis, and her grandson Carl Evans, Jr.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Jeanie Sedivy officiating.  Inurnment will be in the Hemingford Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Friends of the Library at, 1750 Sweetwater Ave., Alliance, Nebraska, 69301.
