Jackie Bowen, age 54, of Chadron, Nebraska passed away on November 22, 2016, at Regional West Hospital in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. Services will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 at 10:00 AM at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with Father Todd Philipsen and Father Tim Stoner officiating. A rosary will be held on Thursday, December 1, 2016, at 7:00 PM at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Jackie was born in Denver, Colorado in December 30, 1961 to Mabel and Joseph Kohne. She spent most of her childhood in Wauneta, Nebraska, where she graduated high school in 1981. She attended a veterinary school in Curtis, Nebraska this is where she met her future husband, Tim Hans of Seward, Nebraska. They were united in marriage in 1982. Together they had 2 sons Wyatt and Callan Hans. Later they were divorced in 1993.

Jackie moved with her two sons to Chadron, Nebraska, where she continued to be a caregiver and mother. She later became a caregiver for Bob Bowen after several years of companionship they developed a friendship and deep love and commitment to each other. They were married on November 9, 2003 and were inseparable until Bob’s death on December 16, 2013. This was one of the hardest times in Jackie’s life. On December 16, 2014, Jackie’s life changed for the better with the birth of her first grandchild. Ruger was the joy in her heart. She spent many days visiting Ruger, her son Wyatt and his wife Chandra in Manden, North Dakota. She loved spending time with them.

Her youngest son Callan is currently living in Eugene, Oregon where he is pursuing his passion of nature and astrophotography. Jackie and Callan shared a love of nature and the beauty of outdoors.

Her passions were sharing her joy of cooking with friends and family. She enjoyed her garden and flowers and she had a deep love for animals. She spent many hours traveling with her mother visiting family and friends and exploring the history of her family ancestry.

Jackie was preceded in death by her father Joseph Kohne; 3 sisters and 2 brothers Linda, Loren, Jim, Diane, Melissa; and her husband Bob Bowen.

Her survivors include sisters Ronnie Schroeder of Gibbon, Nebraska and Tracie Mesecher of Burlington, Colorado; along with her son Wyatt Hans his wife Chandra and son Ruger, and her youngest son Callan Hans.

She was a devout Christian and her faith grew with each passing day. She is reunited with her lord and soulmate. She will be missed by family and friends.

 

A memorial has been established for the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church or the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department. Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE 69337.
