Harry Sutton

Harry Edward Sutton, 71, of Ashby, passed away Friday, September 30, 2016 at Regional West Garden County Nursing Home in Oshkosh.

He was born July 13, 1945 in Alliance to Bill and Edna (Fisher) Sutton.  He was raised on the family ranch south of Ashby with his 2 sisters.  Harry was a true Sandhill 3rd generation rancher.  He was educated in one room school houses and attended junior high and graduated high school from Campion Academy in Loveland, CO.  He then attended Curtis Technical College and received a degree in mechanics and welding.  He also graduated from Dale Hendricks Vet School in Fort Collins, CO where he received his degree in animal husbandry to serve as his own veterinarian on his ranch.  Harry served for 6 years in the Nebraska National Guard.  He also had a love for airplanes and went on to receive his pilot’s license in 1976.  He never lost his passion for flying.

Harry was a strong man committed to his faith.  He had many talents where he could create, build or fix anything.  He took great pride for his red Angus cattle, and dedicated his life to working on the ranch. Harry enjoyed spending time with his wife and children whether it be working cattle, taking trips, or watching rodeos.

He is survived by his wife and best friend, Bonnie (Schild) Sutton, his children, Cory (Cassie) Stitt  their sons, Bradon and Devon of Minatare, Hollie (Joe) Benkelman;  their daughters Lindsey, Nicole and Kaitlyn of Greenwood Village, CO; Casey (Holly) Sutton,  their children, Alexia, Addison and Caydence of Kearney;  Carrie Sutton who resides on the family ranch.  He is also survived by his special niece, Tara Herman, her son, Sawyer of Alliance, his two sisters, Penny and Connie, his brother-in-law, David (Laura) Schild and their family, sister-in-law, Nancy Thurman (Dennis Garner), his uncle and aunt, Jack and Jeri Ogborn. Harry had many loving nieces, nephews, and friends along with his faithful little dog, “Cricket.”

He was preceded death by his grandparents, Harry and Nellie Sutton and parents Bill and Edna Sutton.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, October 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Alliance with Pastor Jim Nichols officiating.  Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff.

 

Memorials may be given to the Seventh-day Adventist Church, a Veterans Fund of the donor’s choice or to any charity.
