Mary Ann Simones, 75, passed away September 6, 2016 in Chadron.

A memorial mass will held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, October 5, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Chadron with Father Todd Philipsen and Pastor Russ Seger officiating.  Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Chadron at a later date.

Mary Ann was born February 17, 1941 in Erie, Pennsylvania and was adopted by her late parents Andy and Irene Musante.  She attended in Warren, Pennsylvania and graduated from Warren High School in 1958.  She was an honor student, a member of the choir and excelled in business classes.  Following high school, she won numerous local and regional shorthand competitions before graduation from Business College.

She married Sime Simones on July 18, 1959, in Warren.  Sime’s career with the U.S. Forest Service and Job Corps lead the couple to multiple assignments in Pennsylvania, Virginia, Oregon and Nebraska.

Mary Ann served in many capacities throughout her life as a mother while raising her six kids with husband, Sime, serving as a team mom, troop leader, scorekeeper, community volunteer, babysitter, den mother, foster parent, and foreign exchange student.  She served her church in various roles throughout the years and was Mrs. Santa during the Christmas season.   In addition to assisting her family and husband, she worked as both a legal and church secretary.

She enjoyed travel, spending time with her family, and her holiday on East Eighth Street.  Her wit, creativity, and nature will be greatly missed.

Mary Ann is survived by her daughters Cindy of Chadron, Dawn of Covington, Washington, Shannon of Tacoma, Washington, sons John (Gaylene) of Caldwell, Idaho, Bill of Chadron and Rob of South Bend, Indiana; sisters Cecilia and Chris of Virginia, Margie of Florida, Jane of Pennsylvania; sister-in-law’s Emmy of Pennsylvania, Carol of Idaho, Alice of California, brother-in-law Frances of Oregon, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

She was preceded in death by husband Sime, parents Andy and Irene Musante, Brother Mike and a grandson Alex.
