Wesley Edwin Burton, 81, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at his home in Alliance.
He was born in Alliance, Nebraska on October 19, 1934 to Aubrey Wesley and Stacha (Larabee) Burton.
Wes served in the U.S. Navy from December 12, 1954 to December 1, 1956.
On October 1, 1959 he was united in marriage to Donna Beals.
Wes was a lifetime Alliance resident. His lifelong career as a plumber began with Hillyer Plumbing and continued with Tritle Pluming until his retirement. He was an active and lifetime member of the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department where he served in various capacities. He was also a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles where he had served as past-president.
He is survived by his daughters, Julieann Brock of Nicholasville, KY and Tammy Jones of Hopkinsville, KY, his step-children, Cathy Sexton of Nicholasville, KY, Carol Glass of McCook, NE and David Carter of Athol, ID. He is also survived by his sister, Beverly Mosser of Scottsbluff, 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his sons, Martin and Troy, his daughter, Sally Carter, his grandson, Wayne Glass and his great-grandson, William McCarthy.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Pastor Jim Rowe officiating. Burial will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department.
