Marlene F. Purchase, 77, died Thursday, June 13, 2013 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance, Nebraska.
She was born May 5, 1936 at Avon, Illinois to Jay Calvin and Garnett Marie (Yocum) Hornbaker.
Marlene married Melvin L. Purchase on May 17, 1957 in Avon, Illinois.
She enjoyed reading, cross-stitch, craft painting and camping. Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren. She was there “#1 Fan” and enjoyed watching their many activities. She loved people and enjoyed many friendships.
She is survived by her husband, Melvin Purchase of Alliance; her daughter, Becky (Mark) Hannam of Galesburg, Illinois; brother, J.C. (Gloria) Hornbaker of Prairie City, Illinois; sisters, Kate (Frank) Havens of Prairie City, Illinois and Marilee Moore of Cameron, Illinois; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Terry Lee Purchase, and her daughter, Diana Lynn Purchase-Vogel.
A visitation service with the family present will be held in Alliance on Saturday, June 15, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 21, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Funeral Home in Galesburg, Illinois. Burial will be in the Prairie City Cemetery.
