Ferguson

William Leo “Bill” Ferguson, 68, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at his home in Alliance after a long courageous battle with cancer.

He was born April 19, 1948 in Cheyenne, WY to Martha Bernice and Arlie E Ferguson

Bill served in the U.S. Army from August 22, 1967 to August 27, 1970.

On June 13, 1971 he was united in marriage to Jean R. Miller in Torrington, WY.

In 1978 he moved to Alliance as assistant administrator at Box Butte General Hospital.  In 1981 they moved to Central City, NE until returning to Alliance in 1987 when he accepted the position of administrator at BBGH.  In 1993 he and Jean purchased the Sunset Motel in Alliance and operated that until earlier this year.  Bill also worked as a sales representative for WPCI, a drug and alcohol testing company in Scottsbluff.

He is survived by his wife, Jean, his son and daughter-in-law, Brent (Kristen) Ferguson of Alliance and his two grandsons, Kaden and Quinn Ferguson.  He is also survived by his brothers, Arlie (Josie) Ferguson of San Jose, CA and Jim (Linda) Ferguson of Omaha, NE, his sister, Arlene Taylor of Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vernalee Burback.

Funeral services will be Friday, August 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Gideon Achi officiating.  Burial will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance.  Visitation will be Thursday, from 1-7 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home.
