Tom A. Jensen, 54, passed away unexpectedly July 25, 2016 at his home in rural Hemingford.

He was born February 8, 1962 to Jesper and Norma (Wright) Jensen in Alliance, NE. He attended country school in rural Box Butte County until 2nd grade and then went to Hemingford where he continued until graduation in 1980.  He attended Milford Community College for a semester where he met his soulmate. He was married to Denise Martin August 13, 1983 at the family farm in Hemingford where they spent their entire marriage.

Tom spent his entire life farming and passed his passion for agriculture to both of his children at a young age. He had a wide array of hobbies that he spent his free time enjoying.  Shooting sports, fishing, hunting, motorcycles, and fast cars were all passions of his.  His favorite activity though was probably doing anything that entailed hanging out with his beloved dog, Winnie.  He was rarely seen without her by his side.

He was an advocate of local agriculture serving on the Westco board for several terms and was currently the Chairperson.  He’d served on the Western Sugar Board of Directors, the Sugar Growers Association, the 4-H Council and various other agriculture association groups.  He was a lifetime member of the NRA and a member of the Alliance Rifle Club.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Jensen, daughter, Ashli Jensen, Alliance, favorite buddy, Winnie dog, sister Lisa (Todd) Culp, Omaha, mother Norma Jensen, Alliance, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Luke Jensen and his father, Jesper Jensen.

His jovial smile and compassionate attitude will be missed by all that knew him.  There will be a memorial service held at 10:00 a.m., August 1, 2016 at the Multipurpose Hall in Hemingford at the Fairgrounds with Pastor Tim Stadem officiating.  Everyone is encouraged to attend casually dressed as you would heading out to the field, the fishing boat, or a cruise in the car.

Memorials can be sent to the family and a cause will be picked at a later date.

Online condolences may be left at www.batesgould.com with Bates-Gould Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
