CASWELL, DAVID JOHN

February 16, 1947 – June 8, 2016

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Dr. Russ Seger officiating.  A celebration of David’s life immediately following at the American Legion Hall.

David, age 69, of Chadron, passed away suddenly at home. Born in England, son of John and Elsie, his family immigrated to Canada and then to the United States in 1958.

David was raised in Southern California where he met and married his wife Sharon in 1975. He entered the army in 1967 and fought in the Vietnam War, where he sustained injuries that had a lingering impact on the rest of his life.

David’s early work experience included jobs as a printer, meat cutter and oil and gas driller. Soon after David and Sharon moved to Chadron in 1978 he began working at Chadron State College where he managed the boiler plant for the last 15 years of his career. David was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. A friend to all, David was always there to listen or lend a hand to anyone in need.

Survived by his wife Sharon, brothers Jack and Leslie, nephew Terry Cunningham Jr., niece Suzanne Agenbroad, great nephew Brian Agenbroad, great nieces Melissa Wagner and spouse Sean, Amanda Smith and spouse Thomas, great great niece and nephews Lailee, Thomas, Jonathon and Joel, and a host of other family and close friends.
