Andrew W. Sutton, 73, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 12, 2016 at his home.
He was born November 30, 1942 in Minatare, Nebraska to James W. and Lucresia (Gonzales) Sutton.
Andy served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1970. Following his service in the military he worked at various jobs before hiring on with the Burlington Northern Railroad in 1976. On July 23, 1976, he married Carol Jensen in Alliance. He later retired from the railroad as a machinist in 1993. He enjoyed reading, carpentry and especially playing pool with friends at the Bowl-Mor Lanes.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Sutton of Alliance; his children, Darcy McConnell of Alliance, Marla McCoy and Debbie Hill of Hemingford, and Leo Sutton of Wheatland, WY; and his son-in-law, Kenny Hill of Alliance. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brianna Brown of Kearney, Cheyenne Sutton of Alliance, and Ashley McCoy, Stephanie Hill, and Michael McCoy, all of Hemingford; numerous great grandchildren; his brother, Pete (Mary Ann) Sutton of Alliance; his sisters, Susie Porcupine of Oglala, SD and Nancy (Robert) White Eyes of Pine Ridge, SD; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandmother Rose Sutton, his parents, his sister JoAnn Burbach and his grandson, Andrew Hill.
Graveside memorial services will be held Friday, June 17, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery. Father Roy Pasala will officiate.
