Dale L. Burton, Sr., 81, died Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Highland Park Care Center.
Dale was born March 9, 1935 in Norden, Nebraska to John F. and Evelyn M. (Smith) Burton.
He married Betty M. Dupier June 3, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
Dale hired out on the CB&Q Railroad in 1958 as a locomotive engineer, retiring from the now BNSF Railroad after 39 years of service in 1997. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, the Burlington Vets, an Associate member of the American Legion and a life member of the Eagles. He also served in the Nebraska National Guard and was discharged in 1960.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Burton of Alliance; his children, Dale (Michelle) Burton, Jr., Carolyn (Marty) Jones, and Richard Dean (Kelly) Burton, all of Alliance; his son-in-law, Dennis Wubben of Tabor, SD; and his sister-in-law, Betty Lou Burton of Rushville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bruce (Lacey) Cordell and Jeremy (Michelle) Brungard, all of Alliance, Michael Jones of Zurich, Switzerland, Brian Jones and Sheila of Alliance, John Wubben of Sioux Falls, SD, Jacob Wubben and Brie of Tabor, SD, Matthew Burton and Sallie of Scottsbluff, Darcy (Dustin) Jackson of Newcastle, WY, and Alan Burton, Kyle Burton, and Billy Burton all of Cheyenne, WY; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Rhonda Wubben, brothers Glen F. Burton, Loyd M. Burton, and his infant brother, Laverne Burton
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Jeanie Sedivy officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 1-7 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of the donor’s choice.
