Thomas R. Cullan, 76, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance.

He was born on July 12, 1939 in Alliance to Harry and Lorene (Burney) Cullan.

 

On November 1, 1960 he was united in marriage to Loretta M. Enyeart.

Tom was a lifelong Hemingford area resident and farmer.  He served numerous organizations and boards, including the Hemingford School Board and Farmers Co-op. He was also an active member of St. Bridget’s Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He got his English degree from Regis University. He was an avid reader, loved to golf and play cards, and was a loving father and grandfather.

 

He is survived by his daughters Kelly (Jeff) Crawford of Alliance; Angie Tompsett of Omaha; Shannon (Greg) Allyn of Frisco, TX; Kate Cullan of Chicago, IL; Julia Cullan of Morrill; and Bridget Cullan of Hemingford. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren,  five great-grandchildren, and his brothers and sisters: Doug(Marti) Cullan of Hemingford; Pat (Jackie) Cullan of Chadron; Larry Cullan of Phoenix, AZ; Mary Ann (Al) Litzau of Denver, CO; Gene (Pam) Cullan of Phoenix, AZ; George (Patti) Cullan of Hutchinson, KS;  Sam (James Landrum) Cullan of Kansas City, MO; Virginia Cullan of Kansas City, KS; Steve (Teri) Cullan of Eagle Point, OR; sisters-in-law Mary Cullan of Omaha; Vickie Cullan of Omaha; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta; his son, Brian; his parents, Harry and Lorene; his brothers, David and Dan; and an infant sister.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, March 8 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church with Father John Kakkuzhiyil officiating. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery.  Wake service will be Monday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Bridget’s Church.  Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Bates-Gould Funeral Home in Hemingford and at the wake service.

Memorials may be given to the Hemingford Volunteer Firefighters Association or to St. Agnes Academy.
