Robert L. “Bob” Bowen, 81, died Sunday, November 22, 2015 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.
He was born November 2, 1934 in Hyannis, Nebraska to Walter L. and Grace (Cartwright) Bowen.
Bob served in the United States Air Force from 1955 through 1959 and was honorably discharged.
He married Miriam J. Kelley on May 30, 1957 in Rutherfordton, North Carolina.
Following his time in the military he returned home and worked as a Lineman for the R.E.A. He later worked in ranching operations, sold feed and operated his own lawn and snow removal service.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the American Legion, the Eagles and the Elks.
Bob is survived by his wife, Miriam Bowen of Alliance; his daughter and son-in-law, Janet Lee and Mike Fitzgerald of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; his grandchildren, Kelley Meloney and Brandon Christen of Scottsbluff, Bill Fitzgerald of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota and Sara Fitzgerald of Buffalo, Minnesota; and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Doris and his daughter, Sandra Jean.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church. Pastor James Rowe will officiate. Burial with military rites will follow the service at the Hyannis Cemetery in Hyannis at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
