Manuel Renteria, 89, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Good Samaritan Health Care Center in Alliance.

 

He was born on October 11, 1926 in Laredo, Texas to Francisco and Angela (Arizola) Renteria. He moved to Alliance in 1950. Manuel worked for many years with the Box Butte County Weed Department and was private contract truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service. Along with Helen Vallejo, he operated Los Palmos restaurant in Alliance for 5 years.  He had a lifelong love of music and was an accomplished accordion player.  He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, especially his grandchildren and his salsa making ability.

 

He is survived by his children, Daniel Renteria of Brigham, UT, Frank Renteria of Providence, UT, Rose Renteria of Wendover, NV and Kenny Renteria of Phoenix, AZ, his lifelong love, Helen Vallejo of Alliance and her family, Linda Mulhern and Julie Wilson of Alliance, Luis Vallejo of Kansas City, MO, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   He is also survived by his sisters and brothers, Eva Hernandez of Alliance, Joe Renteria of Huntsville, MO, Frank Renteria of Terra Haute, IN, Jesse Renteria of Hill City, SD and Connie Goss of Denver, CO.

 

His parents, his wife, Mary, his children, Manuel and Tim, his brother Gilbert and his sisters, Mary and Ascension preceded him in death.

 

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Bates-Gould Chapel with Rev. Don Mink officiating.  Cremation will follow the service with inurnment at the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 p.m. and Tuesday until service time at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be given to the family.
