Roy L. “Beeb” Porter, 85

A memorial service for Roy L. “Beeb” Porter will be held August 1, at Christ

Community Church at 10:00 in Crawford with Pastor Marsha Stauss officiating.

Inurnment with Military Honors will be at the Lusk City Cemetery in Lusk,

Wyoming at approximately 1:30 PM.

Beeb was born Sept 12, 1929 to Roy H. Porter and Florence (Main) in Lusk WY. He

passed away in Crawford, Nebraska on July 28, 2015 at the age of 85. Around

1942, Florence and Beeb moved to Crawford where he graduated from Crawford

High School in 1947. After high school, Beeb joined the Navy and served from

1947-1950 in the South Pacific. After being discharged he returned to Crawford

and worked for Nash Finch as a salesman. Later, Beeb joined the Postal Service

and worked there until he retired in 1985. Beeb married the love of his life, Mary

Hawkins-Robinson, in 1959. They resided in Crawford throughout their married

Beeb was active with the Elks club and held every chair. He was Elk of the

year in 1967. He was a charter member of the Crawford Eagles Club. He served

as a board member of Legend Buttes golf course, and was on the Crawford

Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Beeb was an avid golfer, card player,

and enjoyed playing Keno. Beeb enjoyed all Nebraska sports, especially football.

Beeb was preceded in death by his father, Roy Porter; mother, Florence

Bannon; brother, Sam Porter; sister, Eileen Ellis; wife, Mary Porter; and step-

daughter, Carolyn Dyer. He is survived by his brother Max (Betty) Porter of

Crawford, sister-in-law, Jean Porter, of Lincoln; grandson Lex (Casey) Dyer and

their children Braeden, and Bailey of Casper; granddaughter Torie (Justin) Jacob

and their children Jessica, Tristin, and Liam of Casper; numerous nieces and

nephews, and a host of friends.

Memorials may be made to Legend Buttes Golf Course, Crawford Fire

Department, or donor’s choice. Memorials may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel,
