Lillie Elaine Hennings died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at Heritage Estates in Gering, NE.
She was born January 17, 1927 in Morrill, NE to Robert and Belle (Gregory) Reed. Lillie attended the Morrill Schools graduating in 1945.
On December 30, 1945 she was united in marriage to Raymond Hennings. They lived and farmed southwest of Hemingford from 1946 to 2000.
Lillie was a member of the Congregational Church in Hemingford. While wintering in Arizona they became affiliated members of the Parker Valley Presbyterian Church. After retiring to their home in Scottsbluff, she attended Plymouth Congregational Church. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary No. 9 in Hemingford as well as a past member of the Box Butte Sam’s Camping Club where she served as chaplain. While living in Scottsbluff she was active with the senior center where she also served as chaplain.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 5 sisters, Alice Cline, Hannah Frick, Ethel Strong, Ella Stewart and Daisy Trauernicht, her 4 brothers, Howard Reed, David Reed, James Reed and Burt Reed and 3 grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, John (Carol) Hennings, Gary (Lelo) Hennings and Kenneth (Barbara Sue) Hennings. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and her sisters-in-law, Shirley Reed and Georgia Solterbeck.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hemingford Congregational Church with Pastor Jim West officiating. Burial will be in the Hemingford Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Hemingford Congregational Church.
