Rudy Starke, 74, of Alliance, died Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at his home.

Rudy Burton Starke was born May 8, 1940 in Taylor, NE to Orin and Martha (Locker) Starke.  He attended school in Oshkosh.

On February 22, 1959 Rudy was united in marriage to Patricia Ann White.  To this union four children were born.  He worked throughout his life for the Nebraska Department of Roads, ranching and working for Western Potatoes.  He retired from there in 2002 after 25 years of service.  In his earlier years he was an active Bull Rider in rodeos in Nebraska.

After his retirement Rudy spent much of his time training his border collies for dog trials, attending numerous dog trials and winning many awards.  Rudy loved his animals such as his dogs, chickens, sheep and goats.  He also enjoyed the P.B.R. and rodeo.

Rudy’s pride was his grandkids and great-grandkids.  He loved spending time with each of them.  They put a smile on his face.

His survivors are his wife, Patricia, his daughter, Mitzi (Dwight) Knaub of Alliance, his sons, Randy Starke and Terry “Joe” (Sharon) Starke both of Alliance, his grandchildren, Michael (Mindie) Starke of Hay Springs, Tiffany (Donald) McKain of Alliance, Gina Starke and Orin Starke of Minatare, his great-grandchildren, Tailyn, Rayden and Brecken Starke of Hay Springs and Cameron McKain of Alliance.  He is also survived by his sister, Rosie Hancock, his brothers-in-law, Lawrence (Pat) White, Kenny (Helen) White and Ray (Sandy) White and his sister-in-law, Delores Facchinello. Numerous nieces, nephew, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren also survive him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter, Trixie Starke, his grandsons, Brandon and Jared Wertz, his great-granddaughter, Adyson McKain, his brother, Larry Starke, his brothers-in-law, Floyd and wife, Marilyn White and Lonnie Hancock, his sisters-in-law, Darlene and husband, Wyatt Evans and Betty and husband, Ron McConkey.

A celebration of life will be Monday, May 11 beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the City Park Shelter House with a luncheon.

Memorials may be sent to the family at 331 CR 55, Alliance, NE  69301 for a later designation.
