Virginia M. Campbell, 90, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Box Butte General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Virginia was born on September 8, 1924 in Alliance, Nebraska to Harry & Lena (Annen) Delsing. She attended Dawes County Rural School #47 and St. Agnes Academy. After graduating from the Academy in 1940 she attended business school in Grand Island, and then worked as a bookkeeper and also admittance administrator at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alliance.
She was married to William Russell Campbell on September 28, 1942 in Hemingford, Nebraska.
She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and St. Bridget Catholic Church where she served as a Lector & Eucharistic Minister, along with doing outreach ministry at the local care center. Virginia & her sister Marjorie sewed all the altar linens used in the church.
She is survived by her children, Joanne Kresl of Hemingford, Russ & Virginia Campbell of Alliance, Darrell & Gay Campbell, Dan & Deb Campbell all of Hemingford, and Susan Nollette of Dallas, Texas; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband William Russell Campbell, her son, Arthur Campbell, one still born baby, her brothers, Harold Delsing and Bill Delsing, her sisters, Bernice Wood, Marjorie Prochazka and Bonnie Prochazka.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, March 26 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church with Father Lou Nollette officiating. Burial will be in Hemingford Cemetery. A wake service will be Wednesday, March 25 at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Hemingford.
Memorials may be given to the Hemingford American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship Fund.
