Jim was born April 19, 1931, at Shelburn, Indiana to Thomas and Mayme (Laurent) Nash, the youngest of five children. He graduated from the Shelburn High School in the spring of 1949. He had own “Hoosier” moment when his little school high school basketball team reached the final 16 of the state basketball tournament. He attended Butler University studying pharmacy for two years and then enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951 and served in the Korean Conflict as a Marine Medic.
Upon returning home he met and married Patricia Stewart on August 5, 1955. In 1957, he took a pharmaceutical sales representative position with Davis Brothers, Inc. in Denver and shortly afterwards moved to Scottsbluff. He spent over 20 years in Scottsbluff raising his family and serving regional drug stores and hospitals.
In 1981, he moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to become regional sales manager for Bergan Brunswick Drug Company. Jim remained in that position until his retirement in 1995. He remained with the company for two more years as Bergan’s public relations representative. While in Albuquerque he met and married Patty Long (Slater) on January 1, 1986. Jim and Patty moved back to Scottsbluff in 1997 to be closer to family and friends.
Jim was a dedicated father and husband. He was a faithful member of St. Agnes Parish, and a loyal member of the Knight of Columbus Council spending many enjoyable retirement years developing friendships and serving with his brother Knights.
Jim always marveled at how small the world was. No matter where he was it seemed that the folks he met along the way were either from Indiana or Nebraska.
