DALE BORG, 88

Dale Val Jean Borg, 88, died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Good Samaritan Care Center.

He was born October 20, 1926 in Wakefield in Dixon County to Albert Arthur Borg and Sarah “Mayme” Zurcher Borg.  Dale graduated from Wakefield High School in 1944, and entered into Army Specialized Training School stationed at Fort Collins, Colorado.  In 1948 he graduated from Wayne State Teachers College and taught at Alliance High School from January 1948 to January 1951.  Subsequently, he was employed at Guardian State Bank until his retirement from the Abbott Banks as Senior Vice President in 1986.

Dale married to Patsy Long in Alliance on June 12, 1949 at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church.  Pat and Dale celebrated 65 years this summer.

Dale served as the Box Butte County Republican Party chairman and treasurer, as well as the treasurer for the Heart and Cancer Funds.  He was the Alliance Jaycees President in 1952 and later the Chamber of Commerce President in 1965.  Dale was also the Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge #961 in 1964 and 1965 and State Trustee from 1965 to 66 and PDD of the State of NE Elks in 1966 and 1967; Cattle Capital Shrine Club president and Mason.  Dale belonged to The American Legion Post 7 and Alliance Aerie #136, Fraternal Order of Eagles as well.

Dale was an avid Husker fan as well as golfer and served as president and secretary of the Panhandle Men’s Club for many years.  As a member of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church he served as vestryman.

Dale is survived by his wife, Pat, his children Randal K. (Carin) Borg of Lincoln, Dr. Timothy D. (Nancy) Borg of Westminster, Colorado, and Brenda (Tim) McDonald of Alliance; grandchildren Zachary (Jennifer) Borg of Lincoln, Dr. Jaime (Ben) Seeman of Omaha, Dr. Tyler (Jenna) Borg of San Antonio, Texas, Alaina Borg of Denver, Colorado, Krista McDonald of Evansville, Indiana, and Chelsea and Kay Lee McDonald of Alliance; and great grandchildren, Breklyn and Sienna Seeman.

Funeral services will be Saturday, December 13, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church with Fr. Coke McClure and Fr. Michael McDonald officiating.  Burial with military honors will be in the Alliance Cemetery.  A reception will follow at the Westside Events Center. Visitation will be Friday after 10:00 a.m., with a family prayer service at 7:00 p.m.at the Bates-Gould Chapel.

Memorials may be given to Cattle Capital Shrine Club-transportation fund in care of Elaine Hall, St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
