DENNIS KENNETH JANTZ, 78

Dennis Kenneth Jantz, 78, of Alliance, passed away Sunday, October 5, 2014 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff.

He was born September 29, 1936 to Marcus and Adina (Koehn) Jantz.  He grew up on the family farm in Montezuma.  After graduating high school he began working for the Sante Fe Railroad in 1954 in Dodge City, KS.  In 1958 he moved to Alliance working for the Burlington Northern Railroad as a conductor.  He retired after 42 years of service. Dennis enjoyed camping and fishing with his friends and family and playing his guitar.

He married Lelagene Agnes Votruba on September 15, 1957 in Dodge City, KS.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Lelagene, his 3 children, Tammy (Tom) Fletcher and Karen Jantz-Best both of Alliance and Scott (Jodie) Jantz of Lincoln, NE, his 10 grandchildren, Kelly Davis, Josh and Kody Fletcher, Brock Best, Brittany Poss and Bridget Best, Seth, Clair, Lydia and Sam Jantz, his 5 great-grandchildren, Bella Davies, Traysn and Payton Best, Jaxon and Ryli Poss.  He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Irene Milbradt of Topeka, KS, Ivan (Norma) Jantz of Montezuma, KS, Vernon (Basil) Jantz of Salina, KS, Lillie Unruh of Georgetown, TX, Ervy (Jean) Jantz of Oklahoma, Virginia Yost of McPherson, KS, Ruby (Glenn) Nightengale of Montezuma, KS.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Greg Carter officiating.  Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 1-6 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorials may be given to the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance, 315 Cheyenne, Alliance,NE  69301.
