HARRISBURG- Tomoko “Susie” T. Neal, 85 of Harrisburg, Nebraska passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at her home.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel in Scottsbluff with Pastor Ken Boston officiating. Inurnment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery at Minatare. A memorial has been established to the Banner County Volunteer Fire Department. Tributes of sympathy may be left at www.dugankramer.com.
Tomoko was born January 20, 1929 in Yahata, Japan to Tomozo and Kiku (Morinage) Toyooka. At the age of 16 she completed high school and attended Secretarial School in Japan. She worked as a secretary at the Japanese Manufacturing Plants in Japan. She married James Z. Neal on March 17, 1952 in Fukuoka, Japan. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Army they returned to live in Cherry and Grant counties, where she was a cook for the ranch for 24 years. She became an United States Citizen on February 16, 1968 in Broken Bow, Ne.
She enjoyed cooking for her family and her neighbors. Susie was a kind and giving lady. She made friends where ever she went.
She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Altar Guild Society both in Hyannis, NE.
Survivors include her sons Tom (Nancy) Neal and Pete (Joyce) Neal all of Harrisburg and Robert Neal of Alliance; grandchildren Toby (Sheila) Neal of Bayard, Tyler (Nicole) Neal of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Travis (Jessica) Neal of Vermillion, South Dakota, Erin Neal of Chadron, Kendra Marx of Harrisburg and Dustin (Jeanne) Marx of Alvin, Texas and nine great grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way; her brother Masanoni Toyooka of Japan and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
Susie was preceded in death by her one brother, four sisters, her husband James Z. Neal (March 7, 2014) and parents.
