Frances J. Davis, 70, of Hyannis, died Monday, August 25, 2014 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance.
She was born July 28, 1944 in Hyannis to Floyd F. and Alma Ann Gottlob.
On August 26, 1962 she was united in marriage to Glenn H. “Bud” Davis at Calvary Episcopal Church in Hyannis. They lived and worked on the McCarty Bros. Ranch at Bingham until 1993 when they moved to Hyannis.
Frances was a member of Calvary Episcopal Church. She worked as a rural mail carrier for many years serving the area north of Ellsworth. In 1994 she was elected Grant County Commissioner, a position she held for 16 years. She was also an active member of the D.A.R, American Legion Auxiliary, Lions Club, Eagles Auxiliary and in 2013 was Mother of the Year for Beta Sigma Phi. Frances enjoyed being an excellent cook and made sure no one left her table hungry. She was also an avid Denver Nuggets, Broncos and Nebraska Cornhusker fan.
She is survived by her husband, Bud, her daughter, Deb (Kurt) Johnson of Hyannis, her son, Scott (Lori) Davis of Bingham, her grandchildren, Amanda (Chris) Macy and Gunnar Johnson of Hyannis, Jeremy, Jackson and Angela Davis of Bingham, and her sister, Margaret (Dean) Applegarth of Chadron. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Thelma Ann Edelman, and her husband’s parents, Glenn and Juanita Davis.
Memorial services will be Thursday, August 28 at 11:00 a.m. at the Calvary Episcopal Church with Father Coke McClure officiating. Inurnment will be in the Hyannis Cemetery.
The family would prefer memorials be given to the Hyannis American Legion.
