Darlene Gericke Darveau, passed away December 20, 2013 in Heritage Hall Health Care in Broken Bow, Nebraska.
She was born on December 1, 1919 in Alliance Nebraska. Her parents, Dr. George J. Hand and Nellie Luton of Alliance preceded her in death. Darlene graduated from Alliance High School in 1938.
She married Jack O Gericke in 1939 and he preceded her in death in 1973. Darlene worked as a bookkeeper in several businesses in Alliance through the years and in 1973 she was house keeper for the Holy Rosary Rectory for 9 years. She married Stanley Darveau in 1982 and they traveled for many years. In April, 2006 Stanley passed away and Darlene was moved to assisted living.
Darlene had 2 children from her marriage to Jack Gericke. Connie Leever, of Fort Collins, Co. (husband Sandy who died in 1995), and very special friend Bill Carrell of Fort Collins, Co. Connie’s daughter Sheila and Larry Bacon of Broken Bow Neb.children Janice (Grayson Lukasik)of Miles City Mt., Sarah ( Mark Szakacs) of Hyannis Neb. Spencer Bacon and fiancé Leslie Archer of Broken Bow. From these unions Darlene had 5 great- great-grandchildren and 1 expected great-great-grandchild.
Daughter Darla Annen (husband Darwin died in 1969; they had Jamie Annen (died in 1996) and Jack Clinten Annen (Rowena) of Ogallala, NE, Darla of Ogallala. Neb. married Ken Brestel in 1970 and from that union was born Christina (Robert Mendez) of Kearney, Neb. Trina of Ogallala, Neb. (Ty Kunispel) and 9 great grandchildren.
A memorial graveside service will be Saturday, July 19 at 2:00 p.m. at the Alliance Cemetery.
