WALTER MCCAULEY, 87

Walter S. McCauley, 87, died Friday, April 11, 2014, at his home.

He was born March 30, 1927, at Rushville, to Stephen and Vennie (Cerny) McCauley. He was raised in the Rushville and Clinton area.

He came to Alliance in the early 1940’s and graduated from Alliance High School in 1945.

He began working for the C.B. & Q. Railroad while in high school He entered the U.S. Army in June 1945, and served until December 1946. He served with the Headquarters Company at Marburg, Germany. After leaving the service he returned to Alliance and working for the railroad.

He married Georgia Weldin in 1952. They were later divorced.

After retirement from the railroad in 1989, he enjoyed working on his properties and gardening. He loved to fish and later enjoyed playing golf.

His survivors include his children, Sally Yeager and Mike McCauley of Alliance, and Susan (Sam) Graff, Patrick (Carrie) McCauley and Kelly (Tina) McCauley of Las Vegas, Nev.; grandchildren, Rachel Yeager of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Ryan (Adrianna) Graff, Devon (Brionne) Graff, Connor Graff, Chassity McCauley, Patrick McCauley, Savannah Carroll, Samuel McCauley and Noah McCauley of Las Vegas; and great-grandsons Porter and Hunter Graff, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Arlene Chappell and Frances Faber.

Memorial services are planned for a later date.
