Gene L. Walker, 76, died Sunday, January 19, 2014 at his rural Alliance home.
He was born on November 6, 1937 in Alliance to Glen O. and Blanche (Lore) Walker.
Gene enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January 1955 and served for 20 years.
On May 30, 1958 he was united in marriage to Carolyn R. McTigue at Nahunta, Georgia.
During his career he served at numerous bases throughout the United States and foreign countries. After his retirement from the Air Force, he worked in civil service at Norton Air Force Base, California as an aircraft electrician. In 1994 he returned to Alliance to care for his father.
He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, his children, Patricia Ann Walker of Phoenix, AZ, Rick Walker of Mountain Home, ID and Deborah (Dennis) Sherlock of Alliance. He is also survived by his sister, Leta Ann Casain of Portland, OR and Dave Walker of Pierre, SD, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Terry.
Memorial services will be Friday, January 24, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel with Jeanie Sedivy officiating. Inurnment will be in the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery at Alliance.
