Dolores S. “Dee” Becker, 81, died Monday, January 6, 2014 at Highland Park Care Center.
She was born February 16, 1932 at Spirit Lake, Iowa to Charles and Estella (Fitzgibbons) Sarazine. Dee attended Spirit Lake schools and graduated from high school in 1950. She then attended Duchesne College in Omaha and graduated in 1954 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and Child Psychology.
She married Bernard Becker on November 27, 1954 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Dee especially enjoyed spending time with her family, had a love of music, especially singing and playing the flute, enjoyed travel, collecting antiques, singing in choirs and the “Swingin Seniors” singing group.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church and Altar Society, did volunteer work at St. Agnes Academy, and was a member of R.S.V.P.
She is survived by her children, John (Pamela) Becker, Stephanie (Rick) Farritor, and Meredith (Gary) Erickson, all of Alliance; her grandchildren, Katherine Becker, Blake Gutz and her husband Aaron, Chris Farritor and his wife Kari, Jacqueline Farritor, Kasey Farritor, Kimberly French and her husband James, Erik Erickson and his wife Erin, Shae Erickson, and Murphy Erickson; great grandchildren, Karli Farritor, and Konnor Farritor. She is also survived by her brother, Charles (Mary) Sarazine of Algona, Iowa; her sisters, Amorita Blizek of Waukee, Iowa and Patricia Sieh of Hastings, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Father Lou Nollette will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Wake services will be held Thursday, January 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Memorials may be given to the St. Agnes Academy Foundation or Highland Park Care Center.
