JOHN ALBERT MELTON, 61, CHADRON

A funeral service for John A. Melton of Chadron, Nebraska will be held on Wednesday November 13, 2013 at 10:00am at St Patrick’s Church with Father Tim Stoner officiating.  A vigil will be Tuesday, November 12 at 7:00pm at St Patrick’s Catholic Church.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Chadron.

John MeltonJohn Albert Melton was born on May 1, 1952 to Eugene Albert & Dolores Anne (Cassedy) Melton in Chadron, Nebraska.  John passed away at Rapid City Regional Hospital on Sunday, November 10, 2013. His entire life was spent in the Chadron area. He attended 13 years of school at Assumption Academy and graduated in 1970. During his high school years he loved his sports playing both football & basketball. After graduation he attended Chadron State College. He inherited his dad’s talent for wrenching and did this work all his life. He loved to fish and always had a good fish story to tell.

John was a great Husker fan and many times we were pulling him out from under a table during a frustrating game. We always had fun teasing him about his Pittsburgh Steelers. John could have written a book about the life of his dog, Ralph. Ralph took him on many an adventure.

Survived by his son Jason Melton Stowell, brothers Bill & Arnie Melton, sisters Marg & her husband Tom Morava, Mary and her husband Earl Zeeb & Jeanie Melton; Mother Dolores Melton Bieber; Many wonderful cousins, nieces & nephews.

His is preceded in death by his father Eugene Albert Melton and Brother Leonard Ernest Melton.

The family suggests memorials to the Circle of Light at Chadron Community Hospital.  Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE  69337.
