Jean was born on March 17, 1934 to Louis Peedon and Lola Grace (O’Rourke) Peedon in Thomas County.  Her Saint Patrick’s Day birthday earned her the nickname “Pat” at a young age.  Pat grew up in the Brownlee, NE area and graduated from Thedford High School in 1951.

In May of 1952 she married the love of her life, Cliff Furrow. Pat was blessed with 4 children who survive her, Robert (Patty) Furrow; Randy (Laura) Furrow of Alliance; Sherrie Elwood of Hay Springs, NE and Lisa (Jim) Grapentine of Belle Fourche, SD.  She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Louis Bryce, Virgil Bryce, Lola Starr and Jack Peedon and her son-in-law Curtis D. (Coop) Elwood.

Pat was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.  She was a self-taught cook and baker who mastered the art of making cabbage burgers, potato salad and oatmeal cake as well as other tasty treats.   She was a member of the Presbyterian Church.  She volunteered as a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and as a leader for Blue Birds and Campfire. Pat had a lifelong love of the Western NE Sandhills, their windmills and the wild flowers that grow there. Cliff and Pat spent many summers camping and boating with family and friends.  Pat worked for Dr. Mark Daugherty for several years.  The friendships she made while working there lasted her lifetime.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Bates-Gould Chapel.  Inurnment will be at the Nebraska Veterans Cemetery.
