Craig William Rust, 48, of Alliance, died Sunday, September 1, 2013 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, with his children and family by his side.
He was born in Alliance on November 12, 1964 to William E. and Winifred (Kohler) Rust. Craig graduated from Alliance High School in 1983. He worked for the City of Alliance Electrical Department for several years and served in the Nebraska Army National Guard. Craig was a self-employed carpet installer and operated Western Handyman Service.
Craig was an avid fisherman, hunter and bowler. He enjoyed cooking and dancing. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter and her husband, Erin and Mark Fritzler of Hemingford, his son and his wife, Mike and Shyanne Rust of Alliance, his grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jonathan, Dyson and Jaxson Fritzler, and Alyssa and Brentten Rust, his loving wife of his heart, Laura Zurn and her son, Josh. He is also survived by his mother, Winnie Rust of Alliance, his brother, Tom and Rosella Rust of Scottsbluff, his sisters, Terry and Larry Schefcik of Rapid City, SD and Julie and Dan Oligmueller of Alliance. Nine nieces and nephews, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father, and his niece and nephew, Tami and Matthew Oligmueller.
Memorial services will be Friday, September 6 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Jeanie Sedivy officiating.
