Esteban A. “Steve” Sanchez, Jr, 75, died Thursday, August 16, 2018 at his home.
He was born August 8, 1943 in Alliance, Nebraska to Esteban R. and Macaria
(Mendez Zavala) Sanchez.
Steve, also known as Junior, was a loving gentle soul, a very simple man. His love
for his family was what he lived for. Taking care of his parents was his main priority.
He enjoyed watching the Nebraska Cornhuskers games, playing his nightly game of
solitaire and buying his regular weekly scratch tickets. Junior lived in Alliance all his
life and worked at various restaurants, including the Iron Horse and Alejandro’s, his
little brother’s restaurant, along with the Alliance Public Schools. He was a member
of Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
He is survived by his father, Esteban Sanchez, Sr. of Alliance; his brothers, Juan
(Margie) Sanchez, Felipe (Jayne) Sanchez, Daniel Sanchez and Donald Sanchez,
all of Alliance; his sisters, Gloria (Ralph) Vallejo of Garland, TX, Frances (Terry)
Ogle of Ogallala, and Rose Vasquez (Don Lliteras), Juanita Sanchez, Debbie Sanchez,
Stephanie Sanchez and Monica Sanchez, all of Alliance; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, and brothers, Alex Sanchez, Leon Sanchez
and Angelo Sanchez.
Memorial services will be held Tuesday, August 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Rosary
Catholic Church. Father Tim Stoner will officiate. Wake services will be Monday,
August 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Inurnment will be in the Calvary Cemetery.
