Michael J. Leisy, 62, died Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at Box Butte General Hospital.
He was born August 4, 1951 in Alliance, Nebraska to Albert and Helen (Carter) Leisy.
The early years of Mike’s childhood were spent on the family ranch north of Ellsworth, before moving to Alliance and later to Rapid City where he graduated from high school in 1969. He returned to Alliance in 1971 where he met the love of his life Linda S. Wagner, they were united in marriage on June 29, 1972 and were blessed with four children. His wife, children, and grandchildren were the lights of his life.
Mike was an avid hunter and fisherman, during goose and duck season he could be found in his blind on the North Platte River. He dedicated many years of service to Ducks Unlimited. Bowling was also a favorite pastime, especially the trips to the national bowling tournament. In most recent years Mike has been able to share his love of golf with his wife. They could always be found out on the links on an early Saturday morning. He was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Panhandle Men’s Club.
Mike is survived by his wife, Linda of Alliance; his children, Justin and Jodi Leisy of North Platte, Jamie and Bryant Quick, Amy and Justin Shrewsbury, and Jason Leisy all of Alliance. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Janessa, Jaedyn, and Jacob Leisy; Ashley, Tyler, and Makenna Quick; and Ashtyn, Shelby, and Braelyn Shrewsbury; his parents, Albert Leisy of North Platte and Helen Kienzle of Alliance; brothers and sister, Roger and Kathy Leisy of Longmont, CO, John and Cindy Leisy of Williston, ND, Glen and Tammy Leisy of Riverton, WY, Jeff and Karen Leisy of Cody, WY, and Gay and Ken Lange of Box Elder, SD.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Joy and his grandparents.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 23, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church with Jeanie Sedivy officiating. Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 22 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Panhandle Men’s Club or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
