Nettie “Dolly” Meter, 86, passed away Friday, August 16, 2013 at Laramie Care Center in Laramie, Wyoming.
The first of three children, she was born on November 13, 1926 to Alex and Susie (Reifschneider) Stricker in Bayard, Nebraska. She grew up in Bayard and attended Bayard High School.
She met and married the love of her life, Walter Meter on February 3, 1946, and remained married for 63 years. They had one child, Cheryl (Meter) Kiefer.
They farmed in Bayard for 7 years and then moved to Alliance where they farmed for another 15 years. Nettie was a farmer’s wife who worked side by side with her husband. In her leisure time she enjoyed needle crafts, crocheting, and sewing. She especially treasured the time she spent with her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cheryl Kiefer, one granddaughter and her husband, Michele and Bill Turner, and two precious great grandchildren, Remington and Aspen Turner, all of Laramie, Wyoming. Nettie was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers and her husband, Walter.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John’s United Lutheran Church in Alliance. Pastor Tim Stadem will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s United Lutheran Church or the family.
